RANDOM STOOLS

Under the title Random Stools, Atelier Jungblut introduces a new series of stools to which new pieces will be added. Starting from a basic conception of the function and form of a stool, each new work testifies to a development and a transformation of the initial principles guiding the designer’s hand, resulting in a process in which the designer does not manipulate the material, but rather the material leads the designer. The shape of each stool is determined by the appearance of the available planks from which they were made.

As in other designs by Atelier Jungblut, the Seats series also starts from the premise that aesthetic forms and strong constructions can be achieved through durable and sustainable working methods, and that the available material should be used as much as possible. The weathered and unsanded inside of the stools show the origins of the scrap wood planks and introduce an interesting contrast with the treated and round-off tops of the chairs.

Whether having two, three or four legs, diagonals or not; each stool is the result of a search for stability invoked by the properties of the working materials, in this case recycled wooden planks. Each stool is signed, numbered, and tells a part of this ongoing story.
