The exhibition shows Limburg design work in the widest possible sense of designs developed by designers originating from Limburg, living in Limburg or working here. Additionally there are products on show which were commissioned by well-known or lesser-known Limburg companies. Consequently the exhibition presents an insight in the current and international design trends.
Showroom Limburg shows a wide range of designs mainly aimed at the consumer market, ranging from a desk lamp to a dolls’ house for children suffering from metabolic disorders and from a tea set to tiles that can change their colours. A multitude of design types is represented: industrial, mobility, interior, furniture, jewellery and fashion designs. In addition, the second edition of Showroom Limburg exhibits designs that show the way designers face the challenges of their own craft. How unique is a mass produced pen, who can lay claim to the intellectual property of a 3D-printed lamp created by using open source software and what does an easy to recycle design look like?
The exhibition shows that design can be very diverse, functional, beautiful, full of contrast, exciting, pleasant and durable. Not only will there be projects of national and international established companies and designers on show, but also those of start-up designers. We invite the latter group to submit their works. Showroom Limburg 2018 is the second in a cycle of exhibitions and activities during which the museum structurally visualises the regional manufacturing industry. Each exhibition offers numerous starting points for companies, training colleges and designers in Limburg and the Meuse-Rhine-Euregion to meet and join forces.
